About Pilates
Joseph Pilates was one of the early visionaries in exercise as medicine philosophy. As a prisoner during World War I, he watched the physical atrophy of those around him and designed the first Pilates Reformer using the metal springs of hospital cots.
Today, the Pilates Reformer is a far more sophisticated and adjustable piece of equipment that helps facilitate core strengthening at any age or experience level. In addition, the studio has a Tower Trainer, and a full complement of props for more specific goals.
For new students, Pilates offers a systemic approach to improving balance, flexibility, strength, movement, and body awareness. The intermediate or continuing student will benefit from more challenging reformer repertoire as well as prop assisted variations.
